The Curious Timing of Hip-Hop's Latest Engagement

The whole world knows by now. Rap's favorite couple made the commitment for life when Offset copped a squat and popped the question to his girlfriend, Cardi B.
Like their entire relationship, the proposal was very flashy. How much flashier can it get than proposing with a 500K engagement ring in the middle of a sold out concert?

But what if I told you their is a motive behind all this flash and drama? I'm in no way calling their engagement a sham or fake, but I will say it was a very well thought out publicity stunt.
Let's look at the facts.
A couple days before Offset popped the question, him and Cardi B broke up, at least that's what they put on social media.

As soon they get back together, the next day a song featuring Cardi B, Migos, and of all people, Nicki Minaj, hits the internet.

The following day after the release of 'Motorsport', Offset proposes to Cardi B. The very next day after that Offset releases a surprise mixtape with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin' titled 'Without Warning'.

So what does this all mean?
The people behind Offset and Cardi B ( QC and Atlantic Records) are orchestrating a beautiful roll out. They are using all the hype from the engagement to increase streaming and sales of all their new music. I haven't seen a more genius hype machine that involves real love.
I can honestly say Offset and Cardi B's engagement is for the culture.
Culture 2 to exact.
